Chicago private scavenger licenses, searchable
Chicago licenses private scavengers through a regulated business license (Municipal Code 4-6-130). Dumpster, roll-off, construction debris, grease, and other hauling the City does not collect sits in that regime. JustFiled hosts the official Business Licenses export for private scavenger vehicle licenses so you can search it in one place.
What this corpus covers
A private scavenger is anyone engaged in the removal and disposal of recyclable material, construction and demolition debris, grease, fats and oils, garbage, or other wastes from premises where the City does not provide collection. The Code also folds Disposal and Recycling Management companies into that definition. City recycling rules use “private hauler” for the same 4-6-130 license.
Each licensed vehicle is supposed to carry a City Clerk plate or emblem marked “Chicago Private Scavenger,” issued only after Streets and Sanitation inspects the truck. JustFiled’s Chicago corpus is the Business Licenses export, filtered to private scavenger vehicle licenses — the filing you look up when you need to know who is licensed, whether the license is still in force, and when it expires.
We do not replace BACP, Streets and Sanitation, or CDOT. Commercial refuse-container permits (CDOT) are a separate filing and are not in this corpus.
What you can search
Query live against the hosted Chicago corpus:
- Entity name and DBA
- License number
- License status
- Expiration window
- Published site address
Same filters as the rest of JustFiled. A query here means the same thing it means in Los Angeles or New York.
Saved-search monitoring
Save a filter set. As Chicago re-publishes the Business Licenses export, JustFiled re-evaluates the saved search. A license approaching expiry surfaces on its own. You do not re-run the query to find out.
Provenance
Every record carries the source-file identifier, the source URL, and the retrieval timestamp. Every field traces back to the official Business Licenses filing it came from.
Pricing
One plan. $99/month. Chicago, Los Angeles, and New York included. Search, filters, saved-search monitoring, provenance.

JustFiled is a hosted search service. We ingest official municipal exports on a documented filter. Records are reproduced from those exports; JustFiled adds structure, search, and monitoring, and never appends anything the source file does not publish. We do not issue licenses, and we do not stand in for BACP, the Office of Finance, LA Sanitation, BIC, or DSNY.
